About
Creating a family with one or two kids, husband, cat, dog, garden and a bird bath has been one of my longest standing dreams.
Alas.
I've had three miscarriages: 2010 - 12-week old fetus; December 2015 - 5-week old; and August 2017 a few days shy of 5 months old.
Each pregnancy came with its own nuances generating a unique set of experiences, cravings, and grief.
This last miscarriage is the hardest and I'm still trying to come to grips with what happened.
- Headwater broke.
- Rushed to the hospital.
- Informed of how dilated I am.
- Went through all the rigors and pain of childbirth.
- Cleaned and medicated.
- Fed.
- Re-examined.
- Released with a prescription, advice, and good wishes.
But worst of all: no baby to show for my efforts even though I'm still leaking milk.
Yup!
I got milk!
What's to Be Expected
Initially, I wanted to create a formal record of my pregnancy for friends and family as well as the baby.
I have notes jotted all over the place where I journaled my feelings, expectations, and fears. Most of which might not see the light of day.
Here on the blog:
- I'll relate my experiences.
- Share recipes of the foods I craved during pregnancy and even after I miscarried.
- Share recipes of what I actually ate - some of which I made. Look out for bad pics there everyone.
I'll also bring you articles about pertinent aspects of being an expectant mother and a mother who has miscarried. Points on:
- diet and nutrition
- exercise
- maternity wear
- budgeting
- dealing with grief.
Bear in mind though:
- I'm NOT a doctor. I'm just a woman sharing her point of view about being pregnant and having a miscarriage.
ALWAYS refer to your doctor for medical and professional advice for the health of you and your baby.
2. This is work-in-progress and I'll gladly accept your suggestions on topics you'd like covered.
Until Next Time
I'm looking forward to your comments, shares, and feedback.
But I fervently hope that something I share will be of some help to you on your journey.
